A FATAL ACCIDENT

A FATAL ACCIDENT

He stood for a moment more, a grey, empty feeling gripping him, and then settled himself
on the bike and set off fast down the hill.As he rode again through the quiet village , he
was planning what he'd do.He would ride back to near his house and leave the bike in a dark
road that passed near  the industrail astate. It  would have to left there because there were few houses
and therefore less chance of his being seen.It was either that, he thought , or leaving it in a car-park
somewhere, trying to look as natural as possible.

It had got colder, and the wind even penetrated his parka as he tried to wiegh up the advantages
of the two plans for domping the honda. He was through the village and nearing the bend
before the long straight. He changed down and took it slowly , then changed up  and began
accelerating. The wind increased, and his eyes filled withwater, especially when a sudden bump made him bite the end of his tongue.

Out of nowhere he saw the mini stopped on the side of the road - its lights off.He began to slow and
swing wide to avoid it when suddenly the inside  light flashed, the driver's door began to open,
and a figure started to get out

In panic he twisted the handelbars and jammed on his brakes. The bike bucked and swerved
sideways , and he felt himself falling backwards as it slid away from hin on the frosty
road. His right leg hit the road, and he crashed down half on his back.
Then his head hit the tarmac, and there was an explosion of light and a crack which sounded
inside his brain.

He was unconsciuos as the bike continued its brief slide. He was unconscious as its weight
knocked the old lady back against the open car door. He was unconscious as it swepther
legs from under her, tumbling her  face forward on to its jagged side and scorching her neck
against the exhaust. When he came to, seconds later, he lay still for a moment, then
stumbeld to his feet. That's when he saw the women sprawled half under the car and half
across the bike. The light from the inside framed the whole scene.Barely conscious
of  what what he was doing, he leant towards her and  felt for a pulse

SHE WAS DEAD.
